Incoming
tankers discharge at a T type oil jetty just south of the Tasli Burnu
Light. The jetty runs paralel to the coastline and is approximately
situated 39 49 30 N, 26 57 30 E. The outer arm of the jetty, 317 m long,
is designed for crude oil tankers 100.000 DWT on the outer side and for
tankers of 25.000 DWT on the inner. The outer SE arm is designed for
product tankers up to 22.000 DWT an the inner berth for small tankers of
up to 5.000 DWT. |

The crude
oil berth is roughly in the center of the NW arm and has 4 loading arms.
The jetty is protected by 4 pivotal concrete buffers. The product berth
is similarly in the center of the arm and is equipped with flexible
hoses. |

pumping rate is about 3.000 Tons/hour |

Vessels with
drafts up to 16.5 meters are allowed to berth at the crude oil wharf. |

Fresh water
supplied by refinery by pipeline and bunkers and provisions are
available through suppliers. |

To meet the
increasing petroleum products consumption of Türkiye the construction of
Izmir Refinery located on the Aegean coast near Aliaga in Izmir began in
1968. While the Refinery capacity was 3.0 millions tons/year at the
start-up in 1972, the capacity was increased gradually by
Debottlenecking Project and an Expansion Project after which the
refinery capacity reached to 10.0 millions tons in 1987. |

The refinery
has two atmospheric distillation and vacuum distillation units,
kerosene/diesel desulphurization units, sulphur recovery unit, one
unifener / reformer unit,naptha and kero swetening units as well as
utility units. Izmir Refinery has also the single lube oil complex with
a capacity of 300.000 tons/year in Türkiye. |
