Port of Izmir is situated in the western coast by the Aegean Sea. Izmir
is the third largely populated city of Türkiye and it is a business
centre. The port has a vast agricultural and industrial hinterland. It
is the main port for the Aegean Region's industry and agriculture and it
plays a vital function in the country's export. It is on of the fast
growing ports and continuously seeking to improve its facilities. |

Pilotage is
comoulsory and is provide by the Turkish Maritime Organization (TDI). |

Towage: |
Towage is provided by the Turkish Maritime Organization. 3 tugs
available up to 2500 HP. |

Handling
Equipment: |
The
equipment at the port includes 4 containers guatside gantry of 40 tons
capacity,9 shore cranes of 3 to 15 tons capacity, 14 mobile cranes of 6
to 30 tons capacity, 7 rubber tyred transainers of 40 tons capacity, 4
reach stackers of 40 tons capacity, 12 container forklifts of 10 to 42
tons capacity, 25 General cargo forklift of 2 to 8 tons capacity, 17
tugmasters, 15 tractor, 1 loader, 22 trailers of 40 tons capasity, 5
trailers of 20 tons capacity, towing tractor. |

Floating Craft: |
The floating craft at the port comprise floating crane of 100 tons
capacity, mooring boats, 2 water bargers. |

Storage :
|
Storage
facilities of Izmir consist of 215.940 sqm. open and 23.603 sqm. covered
areas including a hazardous cargo warehouse. |

Container Terminal : |
The container terminal of Izmir has seven berths which haven an
alongside depth of 13 m. The total length of the berts is 1050 m. The
terminal covers an area of 152.000 s.g.m. and the holding capacity is
7074 TEU. Container operations at the quays are carried out by 6 rubber
tyred transtainers and 4 reach stackers of 40 tons capastiy together
with 12 container forklifts of up to 42 tons capasity. Reefer facilities
for refrigerated containers are also available. |

Genaral
Cargo Facilities : |
There are 12
berts with a total guay length of 1429 m. And with alongside depths
ranging from 7 to 10 m. The berts and the yard behind are well eguipped
with modern handling facilities. |

Bulk Cargo Facilities : |
The bert serving the dry bulk traffic has 150m. Length with an alongside
dept of 10.5 Grain silos which have 76.000 tons capasity are available
and there is conveyor system connection with the quay. |

Passenger
Facilities : |
As Izmir is
very close to the tourism and historical places on the Aegean Coast, the
port has a substantial passenger traffic. There is a terminal and berths
nos 1 and 2 at the port serve the passenger traffic. |

Fresh Water : |
Fresh water is available from pier ex-valves and by two water bargers of
150 tons capasity. Fresh water is supplied by the Port Administration. |

Fuel :
|
Private
suppliers provide fuel by road tankers. |
|
Reception Facilities : |
An oily- water separetor system is avaible at the capasity of 35.00 cu.m.

All types of
repairs may be effected at Alay Bey Shipyard owned by Turkish
Shipbuilding Industry Inc. |
